A Load bank is a device that converts electrical energy into heat. The load bank develops an electrical load by consuming electrical power. It applies
the load to an electrical power source and then dissipates it.
Our generator load banks will withstand everyday use in demanding commercial, industrial, and even mining environments. The Automatic Load
Shedding units maintain sufficient baseload on the generator to reduce or eliminate light load running. This is the primary cause of accelerated
engine wear and “wet stacking” for prime power and standby generators, and is common where the set is supplying a varying loads.
- Resistive load banks are the most common types of load banks. They can supply loads to generators and to the prime movers the generators are coupled to.
- Inductive load banks supply inductive loading to generators. They amalgamate real load and can alternate lagging power factor as needed.
- Capacitive load banks are used to test telecommunication systems. They are used for testing nonlinear loads simulating leading power factor load.
- DC load banks are used to test green power sources.
In terms of construction, facilities can also choose from a few different types of load banks:
- Stationary load banks
- Portable load banks
- Duct-mounted or Roof-mounted load banks
- Trailer-mounted load banks
All load banks can have automatic, or manual, or a combination of both types of controls.
The Automatic load bank controller (ALBC) is micro processor based and can be easily reprogrammed using a colour touch screen display, Human
Machine Interface (HMI)
Load Bank Utilization
Load banks are useful in oil and gas, industrial and commercial settings to help ensure reliable backup and emergency power. Load banks can
protect against operational failures and data losses in a power interruption. Commercial building load banks are essential in a range of businesses,
including:
- Government facilities
- Hospitals
- Financial institutions
- Data centres
- Educational campuses
- Recreational facilities
- Schools
- Lodgings

Product Details
This load bank is a portable, self-contained AC resistive load bank designed for indoor use. The load bank gives users a high-capacity load in a compact package. It is ideal for testing and maintenance of AC power sources such as emergency stand-by generators and UPS systems.
The load bank provides up to 150kW resistive load at 600 VAC, 3-phase, 100kW at 480 VAC, 3-Phase, 57kW at 208 VAC, 3- phase and 39kW at 240 VAC, 3-Phase.
Low voltage option includes 18kW at 208 VAC, 3-Phase and 12kW at 240 VAC, 3-Phase.
The load bank features horizontal air discharge to provide a low-profile design. Quick connect camlock cable connections and simple operation allow the load bank to be set up and operated by a single technician.
Control power is derived from the generator being tested or an external 3.3 amp at 120V source.
An integrated control panel is provided for load bank operation and includes the necessary controls, status indicators and a digital metering unit for monitoring volts, amps, kilowatts, and frequency. The load bank is simple to operate and maintain, providing years of trouble-free service.
